Chief Mrs Angela Ogeyi Odey, SSA to Governor Ayade On Mobilization and Enlightenment congratulates His Excellency, Senator Prof. Ben Ayade as he received his Certificate of return in Calabar, yesterday.
According to Chief Angela, Ayade's victory is the fulfilment of Code 888, a political formula that has kept Cross River State in a cohesive nexus since the advent of democracy in 1999.
Addressing OJA-UGU Media Team, she said: "I am overwhelmed by the outcome of the 2019 governorship election, which is a testimonial to the fact that Cross River people are ever willing to adhere to the implicit peace accord reached some years ago, through the zoning formula. Today is a very remarkable day down the political annals of Cross River State as His Excellency receives his certificate of return. We are very optimistic that he has just been certified ahead of the the completion of the good works for which he had laid a foundation in his first tenure."
She also extended her congratulatory message to the 25 law makers who received their certificates, especially, Rt. Hon. Regina Anyogo, the representatives from Yala 1 Constituencies.
"I want to use this opportunity to congratulate all the law makers who have worked hard for victory. Today marks a stepping stone to your political life. I wish you very fruitful legislative years ahead," she added.
Further, she stressed on the fact that they should remain grateful to God because it is him who choose leaders.
She enjoins the law makers to emulate the Governor by using their offices for the utmost good of the masses, stressing: "stewardship demands that God bestows leadership on us to serve humanity, rather than enriching ourselves. When we do the contrary, we provoke God to unpardonable wrath."
She concluded by admonishing politicians to remember those who have put in their best, risking their lives working for them in the electioneering process. "Remembering someone is not all about giving him money as misconstrued - when they call you, pick their calls, show concern for their needs, give the little you have," she submitted.
