Ex-Oyo governor, Ladoja, loyalists dump ADC for Zenith Labour Party, give reasons

By Eje Peter ,
Former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja and thousands of his loyalists across the state on Tuesday dumped the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and joined the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

The decision to leave ADC and join ZLP was taken Tuesday afternoon after a meeting of his loyalists (Ladoja), at his Ondo Street Ibadan residence.

A close ally of the Osi Olubadan of Ibadanland, Engineer Akeem Olatunji, who confirmed this to DAILY POST, said that the decision was owing to the lingering crisis which had engulfed the ADC in the last few months.

Olatunji, a former Public Relations Officer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Accord Party told our correspondent that he had secured the House of Representatives ticket for Oluyole Federal Constituency under the ZLP.

Olatunji added that another reason they decided to leave ADC was that “Senator Lanlehin has not been confirmed as the gubernatorial candidate of the ADC”.

He said, “Yes, it is true. We have left the party, ADC. The decision was taken today. I can tell you and confirm that to you that we have left the party and joined ZLP. Yes, quote me, I am one of the candidates of the party. Now, I am one of the House of Representatives candidates. We have left the ADC. We have joined ZLP.

“Do you know why we are leaving. We left ADC because up till now, Lanlehin has not been confirmed as the gubernatorial candidate. Even, they have picked the deputy gubernatorial candidate and Lanlehin was not carried along.

“It was Chief Koleoso that was supposed to produce the deputy gubernatorial candidate, but he was not carried along. Lanlehin was not involved.

“Another reason we are leaving ADC is that there are so many names that were substituted in Abuja without informing the state chapter.”

He added that “There are about 5 litigation in courts that may stop ADC from having candidates in the 2019 general elections, these and more are some of the reasons we are joining ZLP”.
