Was PMB From The Moon When He Won? OPP Queries Masari

Posted By Adoga Michael Oyi

The Oringo Peoples Party, OPP, has taken a swipe at Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina state over comments that only someone from the moon can defeat President Muhammadu Buhari in next year’s presidential poll.

OPP presidential candidate, Emmanuel Ogbeche, in a statement on Sunday in Abuja, said Nigerians were not aliens neither was Buhari when he defeated former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.

Ogbeche in the statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Other Related Matters, Mr. Teddy Nwanunobi, described the governor’s comment as reckless and dangerous as it signposts gross disrespect for Nigerians who have a right to choice in 2019 and gives a hint that the elections might not be free and fair after all.

“After reviewing the comments of Governor Masari of Katisna state, we find it reckless and foreboding as it shows that the governor has no respect for the choices available to Nigerians in 2019.

“It is also dangerous because it gives a hint that even if Buhari is to lose, as he will in 2019, the choice of Nigerians will not be respected,” the statement read.

The OPP presidential hopeful said Nigerians are not aliens as an alien will be unqualified to run for elections in the country, urging politicians to guard against unwarranted comments.

According to Ogbeche, President Buhari has performed abysmally, therefore, could easily be defeated in a free, fair and credible process.

“What is the scorecard of the president? Woeful! The president has failed in securing the constitutional guarantee of Section 14 of the constitution in securing the welfare and security of the people so he stands little chance of being re-elected next year,” he said.

He appealed to Nigerians to embrace the OPP for the good life as the party remains committed to ensuring that their welfare and security remains topmost.
