Latest update as the 2019 general elections draw nearer, various political strategies are being deployed by various parties to ensure victory at the polls.
According to report mynationnews.com gathered, that the Buhari 2019 Campaign strategy is a robust and well-calculated one aimed at crippling every form of opposition. According to newsmen, the Buhari 2019 campaign strategy largely involves the use of corruption dossiers on opposition figures and Tax offences as ‘weapons’.
The newsmen reports that at a meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and his aides shortly before he declared his 2019 ambition, the advisers counselled that regardless of the current limitation, the Buhari second term campaign would have to stick to anti-corruption as its major rallying cry.
It was learnt that the campaign will seek to obtain “Concrete evidence” that prove allegations of corruption against opposition figures, especially those vying for the presidential seat.
The campaign seeks to be more effective by providing “concrete evidence” in support of allegations of corruption against opposition elements, especially those nominated as presidential candidates.
The appointment of popular lawyer, Festus Keyamo, to lead the communication team of President Buhari’s campaign in 2019, was a deliberate design to further that strategy, our sources said. Mr Keyamo’s appointment was advised by Transport Minister and chairman of the Buhari 2019 campaign organisation, Rotimi Amaechi.
The idea was that as a top government prosecutor who has handled several prominent corruption cases for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr Keyamo’s access to corruption dossiers of opposition politicians would come handy at the appropriate time.
The report also revealed that Tax will be used as a ‘weapon’ to deal with politically-exposed individuals who are not keen on paying taxes. The Buhari team aims to make them pay a heavy political price.
The ongoing Voluntary asset and Income declaration Scheme(VAIDS) is the ‘perfect tool’ for the job. The strategy would be to use politicians’ non-compliance with tax statutes to cripple their finance sources ahead of the election, our sources added. The strategy included the shutting down of business and crippling of finances to ensure no serious political challenge.
