By Chinenyeh Ozor
Cashing in on the security channels of Enugu State Governor, Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the monarch-elect of Ozalla/Obogidi autnomous community in Nsukka Local Government Area, High Chief Asadu Samuel Ikechukwu has donated an SUV to Edem Ani Community Neigbourhood Watch to assist the state government in security issues in the area.

Chief Asadu (Okenwa Ogadagidi ) in a chat with v South-East Voice said that he decided to donate the SUV to the community neigbourhood watch to enable the local security personnel reach every viilage in the area no matter the condition of the road to each village, adding that security is the business of everybody in the society which should not be left for government alone.
He offered to maintain the SUV, pay stipends to the neighbourhood security for one year, having procured torchlights and raincoats to ensure they do not complain.
Chief Asadu who before now resided in Texas, USA said that he has retired home to change the face of the community by embarking on human capital and infrastructure developments both in Ozalla/Obogidi autonomous community and Enugu State in general, explaining that youth empowerment tops his agenda as monarch-elect of the community.
He said that due to the importance of education and e-learning in society, he donated 10 laptops, four 70 KVA generators to the four primary schools in the community to key into the global village, noting that pupils in community primary schools have to follow the modern trend of teaching and learning as obtainable in the Western world
Asadu explained that he has made arrangements for Edem Ani United Club in the United States of America to re-roof all the primary schools in the community as he has personally constructed modern convenience in all the primary schools in the community.
“I retired early in Texas to help people, create job opportunities, empower youths, offer scholarships to indigent students across the country. In no distant time, I will open feed mill industry in Nsukka to cushion the effects of unemployment. It is my calling and destiny to give back to people what God gave to me. The world is a global village with abundant opportunities in different sectors of the economy,” he noted.
“Gov. Ugwuanyi is a special gift to Enugu State. He has never been distracted in the development of road network, agriculture, prompt payment of salaries, education, youth and traders’ empowerment among others. The 2019 general elections in the country is a pay back time for the people of Enugu State to return Ugwuanyi for the second term to complete the work he has started,” he stressed, adding: “God willing, I will transform my community to be a tourist centre in the state. My earlier revolving empowerment scheme of N5m, N100,000 to each youth of my community was the starting point of youth empowerment which tops the agenda of my developmental programmes in my community and beyond.”
Asadu noted that he built health posts in Ozalla/Obogidi autonomous community and would extend same to other communities while not less than 50 students in tertiary institutions will benefit from Ogadagidi Empowerment Education Foundation, saying that he donated 13 wheelchairs to the Enugu State Government last year and renovated the state’s Ministry of Health where he was employed as a nurse and posted to Olo Comprehensive Cottage Hospital in Ezeagu Local Government Area where he worked before moving to the United Kingdom.
Keying into the state government’s agenda for good governance, the monarch-elect said that the second term bid of Gov. Ugwuanyi is not negotiable owing to what he has done in the three senatorial zones of the state both on infrastructre and human development. He said he has mobilised his community to ensure that all adults from 18 years and above, get the permanent voters’ card.
He assured that Edem Ani community will produce the highest registered voters in Nsukka Senatorial Zone.
He appealed to the Enugu State Government to consider as a matter of urgency and neccessity the construction of road network in Edem Ani community mostly for farmers in the area to evacuate the abundant agricultural produce to the cities.
