Two 24 hour weather warnings have been issued by the Met Office across a swathe of England for Saturday and Sunday, with as much as 5cm of snow expected to fall in some places.
The cold snap comes weeks after the Beast from the East and Storm Emma sparked massive disruption across the country in early March.

Meteorologist Martin Bowles told the Standard: “Friday we start to gradually get colder temperatures as an area of high pressure which has built over Scandinavia brings cold air.
“This will lower temperatures over the weekend. On Friday snow will fall in the north-east of Scotland, and as we go into Friday night this will move southwards, turning rain into snow.
“Snow will reach London on Saturday morning. It will feel very cold with temperatures around 3C during the day dropping overnight to about -2C.
“By Saturday we will also have this very cold wind which will make temperatures feel below freezing.”

On Sunday, wintry showers across the south of England could cause widespread travel disruption.
