A Sokoto Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday remanded a 25-year-old trader, Suleiman Mohammed, over alleged theft of Handsets and N115, 000 cash.
Mohammed, 25, who resides at Tsamiyar Dila area, Sokoto, is facing a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and theft.
The Chief Magistrate, Abubakar Adamu, ordered the remand of the accused in prison following the prosecution’s request to allow the police conclude investigation into the matter.
Adamu adjourned the case till March 19, for hearing.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Cpl. Umar Rabi’u had told the court that the offences were committed on February 2, at Tsamiyar Dila, Sokoto.
Rabi’u said that the accused unlawfully entered into the residence of one Umar Mohammed and stole a Tecno handset and two Samsung handsets valued N100, 000.
The prosecutor said the accused in the process, also made away with N115, 000 cash.
He said the offences contravened Sections 288 of the Penal Code.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
