ABUJA-Former governor of Kaduna State and ex-chairman of the National Caretaker Committee (NCC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ahmed Makarfi has expressed shock over the terrorist attack in Rann by suspected Boko Haram extremists, which led to the loss of many, including officials of the Red Cross and the International Organization for Migration.
Following the attack in Rann on 1 March 2018, in which three aid workers were killed and one injured, UNHAS has assisted with the evacuation of the wounded.
The PDP chieftain who described the incident as “utterly condemnable,” also called on government to intensify the fight against all forms of terrorism, adding that no effort should be spared to rescue all abductees as quickly as possible.
In a statement signed by his spokesman, Mukhtar Sirajo, Makarfi also offered his condolences to the families of victims of another bomb explosion in Bumi Yadi and Madagali on Saturday stressing that until terrorists are chased out of the nation, the fight against insurgency cannot be said to have been won in the true sense of the word.

“Senator Makarfi considers the attack utterly cowardly and condemnable as innocent people were made soft targets, including those engaged in rendering humanitarian services. A better approach is needed in the fight against the Boko Haram, which should include a tightening of the security architecture in all the affected areas,” the statement read in part.
