Why Onyema Quickly Evacuated Stranded Nigerians From South Africa: Buhari’s Aide

Lauretta Onochie

ByVerity Awala

Lauretta Onochie, President Muhammadu Buhari’s aide on social media says Allen Onyema, embattled CEO of Air peace had an ulterior motive when he evacuated Nigerians stranded in South Africa during the xenophobic attacks free of charge.

According to the presidential aide, she had a strong hunch that the Air Peace CEO, who was recently indicted in a multi-million Naira fraud case by the US Department of Justice, was up to something.

Onochie said she wasn’t fooled by Onyema’s ‘heroism’ because she knew something was up and that the Aviation company owner knew America had him where they wanted him.

She said in a tweet on Saturday thus: When the scales suddenly fall off their eyes, we must give it time because it’s either they are pursuing something or something is pursuing them.

Nigerian Rivals Collaborating With America To Rubbish Onyema – Youth Coalition

Allen Onyema

By Akunwumi King

Lagos – A coalition of youth groups in Nigeria has alleged that Nigerian business rivals of the Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, are collaborating with some individuals in the United States government to harass the airline boss.

The coalition, which consists of Arewa Youth Consultative Forum; Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide; Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, and Ijaw Council Worldwide, also called on fellow civil society organisations in the country to rise up to “this new judicial brigandage designed to destroy our son of the soil in a foreign land.”

In a statement signed by their presidents, Yerima Shettima, Aremo Oladotun Hassan, Esq., Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, and Barrister Pereotubo Oweilaemi, respectively, the coalition vowed to resist any attempt to pull down Onyema, maintaining that it would employ every legal mean to defend him.

According to the statement, “This is indeed the time to tell the whole world, including the United States officials holding Onyeama, that enough of this harassment scheme against successful Nigerian investors.
“We would like to draw the attention of his Nigerians rivals that we suspect are working hand-in-hand with their American partners, that, we will follow every legitimate means of defending one of the most exemplary Nigerian investors that we have in Mr. Onyeama.

“We make bold to say that at this crucial moment in the history of our beloved country what we need is more of Allen Onyeama. And we are determined to promote the emergence of Nigerian investors who have great sympathy for the poor and all those facing extraordinary life’s difficulties.”

The coalition explained that it has been following with keen interest the conflicting narratives coming out of the United States regarding the purported indictment of Onyeama.

Why Onyema Quickly Evacuated Stranded Nigerians From South Africa: Buhari’s Aide

It added, “As law-abiding citizens, we recognise the involvement of the U S Court and would not want to take a prejudicial stand on the matter. But much as we appreciate the involvement of Judiciary, we feel there is a compelling reason to question this sudden, purported indictment of a Nigerian who has been doing business for decades in the US and he has never been found wanting until now.

“This raises fundamental questions about the bad timing and the growing suspicion of many Nigerians over the motive behind targeting our son of the soil.

“We are beginning to see a pattern that smacks of a conspiracy by his business rivals in Nigeria, working together with their American collaborators to rubbish one of the few outstanding philanthropists in Nigeria.”

Ruiz: Joshua dropped me with lucky punch

Andy Ruiz Jr has claimed it was Anthony Joshua who threw a lucky punch in their first meeting. The chubby heavyweight stunned the boxing world by knocking Joshua down four times before stopping him in the seventh round.

Ruiz relieved the Brit of his three world titles with Joshua claiming he did so with a “lucky punch sent from the Gods.”

But as the rivals prepare to clash again next month, the champion has hit back, claiming he wasn’t hurt when he was dropped in the third round.

“That was a lucky shot for him, too,” Ruiz Jr told Sky Sports. “I got lazy. It was a punch in the blink of an eye. I thought: ‘What just happened?’

“I wasn’t that hurt because I wasn’t wobbling. I still had the will and the fire inside of me. I wanted to keep fighting and win the fight.

“Once he dropped me, then got me with a really good right hand, I could eat his punches. Mentally he thought, ‘This guy isn’t going down, what is happening?”

“I had to do everything possible to change the fight, and that’s what I did with the left hook.

“The left hook was a really great shot in the temple. The other times I hit him in the head, he loosened up and got wobbly. I was the better fighter that day because I pressured him, threw more punches and the body shots put him down.”

EPL: Pochettino reveals what will happen to Tottenham under Mourinho

Pochettino

By Ifreke Inyang

Mauricio Pochettino is confident that it will go “massively wrong” for Tottenham Hotspur under Jose Mourinho, according to ESPM.

Mourinho replaced Pochettino earlier this week, after the Argentine was sacked by the club’s chairman Daniel Levy.

Pochettino left less than six months after guiding the club to the Champions League final.

But he left the club 14th in the table, 11 points behind fourth-placed Manchester City.

However, Pochettino is “confident” that Spurs will continue to go massively wrong during Mourinho’s reign.

Mourinho, meanwhile, is confident that Spurs can be title challengers next season.

“We cannot win the Premier League this season,” Mourinho said this week.

“We can, I’m not saying we will do, we can win it next season.”

Details of Osinbajo’s meeting with governors emerge

Osinbajo

By Wale Odunsi

The National Economic Council (NEC) has resolved that Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) should constitute an ad hoc committee to address the challenges confronting the mining sector.

Gov. Abudullahi Sule of Nasarawa State briefed State House correspondents after the NEC meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Thursday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, NAN reports.

Sule said that the council received a memorandum from the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, which intimated to the council the current relationship between the three tiers of government in fiscal governance of the solid minerals sector.

He said the minister sought an improved synergy between the three tiers of government in the sector and also requested the council’s support in respect of the provisions of the constitution and the Nigerian Mineral Mining Act.

The governor said that NEC was further informed that the ministry had resuscitated the Presidential Mines Surveillance Taskforce in all states of the federation with the responsibility of curbing illegal mining and environmental degradation.

He said that the taskforce would also plug the revenue leakages in addition to the institutionalising of National Council on Mining and Mineral Resources Development.

“The resolutions of the council are as follows: council resolved that there is a need for greater collaboration between the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development as well as the various states.

“It was also resolved that environmental issues and concerns in various states have to be sorted out by the Federal Ministry of Mines and the various states.

“Regarding community relationship, council resolved that there should be a full time engagement of the communities to avoid mistakes made in the oil sector.

“In summary, the governor of Ekiti State and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), should constitute an ad hoc committee involving governors to engage with the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel to find ways of addressing all the issues involved so that there will be fewer challenges especially in this particular ministry,’’ he said.

Aminu Tambuwal: Court of Appeal upholds election of Sokoto state governor

Aminu Tambuwal

 By  Kess Ewubare

The Court of Appeal on Friday, November 22, upheld the election of Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state. The four-member panel of judges led by Justice Husseini Mukhtar declared that Tambuwal was duly elected and upheld the judgment of the tribunal which had earlier dismissed the petition filed against the governor by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, Hon Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, Sun reports.

The court ruled that the appellant failed to prove the allegations of over-voting and stated that both appeal and cross-appeal were lacking in merit.

In another report, Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo state has described the Court of Appeal ruling which affirmed his election as a vindication of the mandate delivered to him by the people of the state.
The Imo state governor speaking on Tuesday, November 19, shortly after a five-man panel of the appellate court led by Justice Oyebisi Omoleye affirmed his victory, said the verdict of the court is a reaffirmation of confidence on Nigeria’s judicial system.

Ihedioha, who stated that his focus remained on rebuilding Imo, said he bears no ill against those with different political leanings who challenged the mandate freely given to him by the people of Imo state.

Meanwhile, the re-elected governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello, has expressed his readiness and that of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) to meet any of his opponents in court over the result of the November 16 Kogi governorship election.
The governor stated this when he fielded questions from journalists after he paid a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa, Abuja, on Thursday, November 21, The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports. He said that the presentation of the certificate of return to him by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had proved that he won the gubernatorial election as expected.

Babangida finally reacts to outcome of Bayelsa, Kogi guber

A former governor of Niger, Dr. Babangida Aliyu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the killing of the PDP’s Women Leader of Wada Aro Campaign Council in Kogi state, Salomi Abuh, calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to cancel Saturday’s governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa states.
Aliyu made the call in a press statement on Thursday in Minna by Mr Bala Bitrus, his media officer.
According to Aliyu: “we hereby ask INEC and the government in power to annul the elections in the interest of peace, the growth of democracy and fairness.
“(This is) for the soul of Salomi Acheju Abuh and of all those who were slain in Kogi and Bayelsa states in the course of last Saturday’s elections by the agents of the states.
“We ask the federal government to not only condemn the wanton killings and destruction of properties but to empaneled well balanced committees to probe the dastardly acts and speedily bring those behind the arsons and fish out their sponsors for proper justice.”
“As civilized citizens, we note with serious concern that the general conducts of the governorship elections in the two states, where innocent citizens were subjected to crude, brutal and naked use of force have rubbished the essence of the elections.
“Therefore we reject the outcomes of the two elections in their entirety,” he said.
“It is pertinent to say here that subversion of the free will and wishes of citizens at elections and at any public fora amounts to, not only illegality but gross abuse of the fundamental principles of the rights of citizens to elect candidates of their preferred choice to govern them,” he added.
The Former Governor said that it was time for the country to begin to have critical look at the electoral system and ensure that the right things are done toward safeguarding democracy and its true culture in all elections.

Cross River State governor, Sir Ben Ayade, Thursday, presented an appropriation bill of one trillion, one hundred billion, one hundred and sixty seven million, five hundred and seven thousand naira, nine kobo, for the 2020 fiscal year.
Tagged "Budget of Olimpotic Meristemasis ," It has a capital expenditure of N911 billion representing 82.8 percent of the budget and a recurrent expenditure of N188 billion, representing 17.2 percent of the budget.
Ayade described the budget as one that is anchored on a belief “in the spiritual force which is the third energy."
While explaining that meristemasis is the active cell that stimulates growth in a young plant, which in this case represents the state, he pointed out that, "the budget will catalyze into existence a great opportunity for us all to put our hands and legs on the pedal and fill it off."
He said the decision to allocate 82.8 percent of the budget to capital expenditure, was indicative of our aggressive commitment that will continue to reduce recurrent expenditure and focus on capital expenditure."
On the sectoral breakdown as captured by the appropriation bill, Ayade disclosed that the health sector will gulp N44 billion, education  N38 billion, new city development N35 billion while agriculture will get N22 billion and social housing to gulp N12 billion, among others.
The governor announced plans to set up anti-tax agents to ensure that the tax policy of his administration is sustained as he will not like to tax the needy to prosperity.
"All low income earning people, civil servants earning below N100 thousand will be exempted from tax," Ayade said, adding that, "small scale businesses like barbing saloons, hair dressing and other surviving agencies are hereby exempted from taxation."
He also abolished the daily payments of N500 to N1000 levies by taxis plying the state, noting that they will now pay N2000 only every month.

On the size of the budget, the governor said: "We must come to the understanding that indeed any state whose budget is driven by the envelope size is limited in vision.
“There are two ways in business and public sector management that you derive your budget. It is either that your budget comes as an expression of your envelope size or as an expression of your ambition.
“The prosperity agenda set for this state does not allow me the opportunity of an envelope budgeting. Our budget prescribes the actual cost element while the intellectual financing shuns the cost because the ambition so expressed allows us the latitude to drive with to ensure that we guarantee that all aspects of the budget so provided are driven."

Tonto Dikeh Reportedly Still In Dubai Prison, More Incriminating Evidence Arises

Tonto Dikeh

By Adebiyi Chioma

It is no longer news that Tonto Dikeh was arrested in Dubai. But what is puzzling is the whereabouts of the drama queen.
Just recently, controversial actress, Tonto Dikeh was arrested in Dubai after an altercation with security personnel and there were reports that she was later deported.

Tonto denied the deportation rumours and shared a video of herself still in Dubai. In the video, Tonto made sure to show that she is still in Dubai.

More details about Tonto’s detention has emerged after a close source to the actress revealed in an interview with Kemi Ashefon that the mother of one is still in Dubai.

According to the source, Bobrisky’s post about Tonto is just damage control to make fans think everything is well.

The source said: “First, Tonto is not the type to use that kind of video to debunk allegations of detention and deportation. She would have used a more beautiful background wearing gorgeous clothes and displaying affluence. That was a damage control video she shared through Bobrisky.

Tonto was looking like a tart! She wasn’t wearing make-up and looking like a prisoner in one small room! Anyways, in the video, there was no address about or her arrest. The Tonto we knew would have tore whoever wrote that story into shreds.”

Also, Bobrisky has now shared another video on his page showing Tonto Dikeh telling her fans to follow her new Instagram page, @king_wigocharity. The actress explained that her old account is fine but she left her password in her office in Nigeria and cannot access the page. Kemi Ashefon’s source also commented on this.

The source added: “Who is fooling who? She said she is still in Dubai but her password is still in Africa! In this IT age? The video looks so stupid! Meanwhile, before the new page, she had posted many photos from Dubai on the old page @tontolet which has over 5million followers. It was on her old page she posted her ‘fake gift’ from Timi Frank. She even bought a new phone to run the new page! As a matter of fact, she removed the nylon seal from the cover of the phone!”

Speaking further on the actress, Kemi Ashefon’s source explained that after Tonto was arrested, her hotel room was searched and hard substances were found.

The source stated: “After her arrest and her hotel room was searched, they found out that she came to Dubai with hard drug*s which she must have been taking”.
